Instituted 14 March 1881. A presentation case for a Commander’s Cross of the Order of the Crown, constructed of a wood frame with a faux blue leather exterior, the obverse lid with a gold embossed monogram of King Ferdinand I topped by a royal crown, with an inscription of “Cor. Com.”, the interior with a padded white satin-type lid liner, with an intact hinge cover, with a depressed grey doeskin medal bed on a white card stock liner, opening with a functional bronze snap button, with functional dual magnetic metal hinges, unmarked, measuring 85 mm (w) x 152 mm (l) x 26 mm (h), minor material fatigue is evident, otherwise in better than very fine condition.
This offering is a part of the "Dr. Albert Goodwin Collection", a preeminent assemblage of world Orders, Medals, and Decorations composed solely by Dr.Goodwin between 1946-1967. Dr. Goodwin had a successful career as an educator and prominent physician in New York as well as actively serving in both World Wars with the United States Medical Corps. He acted as both President and Vice-President of the Orders and Medals Society of America (OMSA) and is responsible for organizing their first convention in 1960. He maintained further membership with the American Society of Military Collectors, the International Orders Research Society, and the American Numismatic Society.
