Type I (1877-1932). Peacetime Military. In silver gilt with red, blue and green enamels, hallmarked with two facing fish that frame the Roman numeral "II" (800 silver) within an ace-shaped frame on the ring, the edge of the arm at 6 o'clock with a plate bearing the maker mark "RESCH" (Resch Jewellery Workshop), measuring 65.7 mm (w) x 104.5 mm (h) inclusive of its crown suspension, very light contact, intact enamels, accompanied by a replacement modern sash that incorporates a decorative moiré pattern and features a large bow-tie, extremely fine.
Footnote: The Order of the Crown of Romania was instituted on March 14, 1881 and amended on May 9, 1932. It was awarded for conspicuous and special merit, in three divisions: Civil, Peacetime Military and Wartime Military; all of which come in five grades: I Class Grand Cross, II Class Grand Officer, III Class Commander, IV Class Officer and V Class Knight.
