Type II (1932-1947) In silvered bronze with red, green and blue enamels, unmarked, gilt monogram of King Carol I on the obverse centrepiece, measuring 41 mm (w) x 63.5 mm (h) inclusive of its crown suspension, intact enamels, very light contact, replacement military ribbon, near extremely fine. In its hardshelled case of issue, brown dimpled exterior, cypher of King Michael I (two reigns: 1st 1927-1930; 2nd 1940-1947) and inscribed "Steaua Romăniei Cavaler" in gold-coloured ink on the lid, inside lid in off-white rayon, padded and national mint marked "ROMANIA MONETĂRIA NATIONALĂ", medal bed in gray rayon, measuring 62 mm (w) x 117.5 mm (h) x 22 mm (d), exhibiting scuff marks, soiling and wear on the exterior, along with a weakened hinge, plus nips and discolouration in the grey rayon of the medal bed, case near fine.
Footnote: The Order of the Star of Romania was instituted on May 10, 1877 and revised on May 9, 1932. It was Romania's highest civil Order and second highest State decoration after the defunct Order of Michael the Brave. It was originally awarded in six grades: Grand Cross with Collar, Grand Cross, Grand Officer, Commander, Officer and Knight, in three divisions: Military, and Military for War Merit.
