1. The Order of the Star of Romania is Romania's highest civil Order and second highest State decoration after the defunct Order of Michael the Brave. It was originally awarded in six grades: Grand Cross with Collar, Grand Cross, Grand Officer, Commander, Officer and Knight.
2. The Loyal Service Cross was instituted on November 11, 1906, in celebration of the fortieth anniversary of King Carol’s appointment as Domnitor of the Principality of Romania, to be awarded for long and faithful service to the Kingdom of Romania. During the Second World War period, it was awarded for military services, to both Romanians and members of the Axis forces.
