Romania, Republic. An Order of Michael the Brave, II Class Cross with Swords

(Ordinul Mihai Viteazul). Instituted December 21, 1916 by King Ferdinand I. Type III. In bronze gilt, a blue enamelled cross with a central crowned M with the date 1941 on the 6 o’clock arm, the reverse bears the date 1916 in the center, crossed swords pierce the center, the cross is surmounted by a crown, measures 59.7mm (w) x 82.6mm (h – inclusive of crown suspension), weighs 22.6 grams, worn on a segment of original neck ribbon, small scratches to obverse enamels, a very rare decoration which remains in extremely fine condition.
