A rare State Award of the Romanian People’s Republic, I Class, constructed of 18K Gold, the obverse bearing a raised and finely-detailed coat of arms of the Romanian People’s Republic, set above laurel branches, the reverse bearing a raised inscription of “PREMIUL DE STAT AL REPUBLICII POPULARE ROMÎNE” (“STATE AWARD OF THE ROMANIAN PEOPLE’S REPUBLIC”), set above a raised five-pointed star, with an integral loop at the twelve o’clock position connecting to a clasp with a period original ribbon, the reverse of the clasp featuring a horizontal pinback, unmarked, the medal measuring 26.47 mm in diameter, the clasp measuring 24.95 mm (w) x 17.64 mm (h), weighing 22.6 grams overall, accompanied by its period original presentation case, constructed of a wooden frame with faux red leather exterior, the exterior lid bearing an inscription of “PREMIUL DE STAT AL REPUBLICII POPULARE ROMÎNE CL. I” (“STATE AWARD OF THE ROMANIAN PEOPLE’S REPUBLIC I CLASS”), the interior with a padded white satin lid liner and intact hinge cover, with a slotted off-white velvet medal bed, opening with a functional spring catch with exterior stud release and a functional metal hinge, unmarked, measuring 70 mm (w) x 104 mm (l) x 22 mm (h), in overall extremely fine condition.
