Russia, Imperial. A 1717 Medal for Peter the Great’s Visit to Paris, by Jean Duvivier
Constructed of bronze, the obverse bearing a raised and rightward-facing profile of Tsar Peter I (“the Great”), circumscribed by name and title in Latin, the reverse bearing a raised and winged figure wielding trumpets, circumscribed by Latin dedications indicating that the medal was issued to commemorate the Tsar’s 1717 visit to Paris, the obverse bearing the mark of French medallist Jean Duvivier, measuring 60 mm in diameter, in extremely fine condition.
