What's a max bid?

Your maximum bid should be the highest amount you're willing to pay for an item.

Your entered maximum bid will not be disclosed to the seller or other auction participants at any point.

Max bidding example:

If the current auction price is $100 dollars and you place a maximum bid of $120 dollars, the system will bid $101 dollars on your behalf.

If no other participant places a bid, you win that auction lot for $101 dollars.

If another auction participant places a bid of $110 dollars, the system will subsequently place a bid of $111 dollars on your behalf. The system will continue to bid in $1.00 dollar increments until your maximum bid of $120 dollars is exceeded.

If another auction participant places a bid for $125 dollars, the auction lot price will display $121 dollars having exceeded your previously submitted maximum bid by $1.00 dollar.

Russia, Imperial. A Table Medal for the Conquest of Narva, by Carl Poellath, 1904

Constructed of bronze, the obverse bearing conjoined and leftward-facing profiles of Tsars Nicholas II and Peter I (“the Great”), the reverse bearing a central raised coat of arms of the city of Narva, circumscribed by a Russian Cyrillic inscription indicating that the medal was issued to commemorate 200th anniversary of Russia’s successful siege of the city during the Great Northern War, in addition to dates “1704-1904”, measuring 50.86 mm in diameter, accompanied by a period mis-matched presentation case, constructed of a light wooden frame with a dark maroon faux leather exterior liner, the interior with a padded white satin lid liner and intact hinge cover, the former maker marked “CARL POELLATH, SCHROBENHAUSEN”, with a depressed grey velvet medal bed, closing with a functional metal spring catch with exterior stud release, measuring 85 mm (w) x 85 mm (l) x 20 mm (h), a comparatively scarce example of what is believed to be a limited issue of 200 bronze medals, in extremely fine condition.
