Russia, Imperial. An Order of Saint Anne, I Class Cross, c.1920
(Императорский Орден Св. Анны). Instituted in 1735. Civil Division. Likely of French manufacture, bronze gilt composition, portraying a red enamelled cross with ornate designs in each quadrant, the obverse medallion features a hand painted applique of St. Anne on enamel, the reverse medallion presents the hand painted initials A.I.P.F (Anna Imperatoris Petri Filia), marked BRONZE on the side of the suspension loop, measures 51.50mm (w) x 61.60mm (h – inclusive of integral ring), weighs 53.3 grams, small enamel chips near edges of arms an on reverse medallion, accompanied by a long segment of original sash of red and yellow silk, the cross is in near very fine condition.
