Russia, Imperial. An Order of St. George, I Class Cross, c.1916
Constructed of gilded metal, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon with pentagonal backplate, presenting as a Cross Pattée with central obverse medallion depicting raised image of St. George slaying a dragon, reverse with central medallion depicting monogram of Tsar Nicholas II, left and right arms inscribed with award number “38713”, lower arm inscribed with “1 СТЕП” (“I Class”), measuring 34.48 mm (w) x 41.47 mm (h) and weighing 19.2 grams inclusive of ribbon, marked on left and right reverse arms with “жм” indicating construction of metal alloy, in near extremely fine condition.
