Russia, Imperial. A Rare 1914 Silver Award Document to Podporuchik A.A. Garnushevsky, Corps of Naval Engineers
Constructed of off-white paper stock with multi-coloured ink, the obverse bearing a finely-detailed border featuring imagery of Russia’s newly-instituted Imperial Air Service, surrounding a pre-revolutionary Russian Cyrillic inscription with a handwritten dedication to Podporuchik (Junior Officer) A.A. Garnushevsky, awarding him with the Committee’s Silver Badge, bearing an issue number of “1233” and dated 13 May 1914, distributed in St. Petersburg, issued in the name of Grand Duke Alexander Mikhailovich in his capacity as Vice Admiral of the Imperial Russian Navy, designer marked “Р. ЗАРРИНЪ 1912” for Latvian graphic artist Rihards Zariņš, measuring 44.5 cm (w) x 57 cm (h), with moderate discolouration and material fatigue evident throughout, a scarce document in very fine condition.
