Russia, Imperial. A Cross of the Russian Orthodox Society of Kamchatka, by Nikolai Linden, c. 1910
Constructed of silver, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon, consisting of a Geneva Cross, the obverse bearing a white enameled medallion with a hand-painted image of Christ in the style of the Not-Made-By-Hands icon, within a raised silver crown of thorns, the reverse bearing a central white enameled medallion with a silvered Russian Cyrillic inscription of “КАМЧАТСКОЕ ПР. БГ. 1910”, the six o’clock arm stamped with a coat of arms an a Russian Cyrillic maker’s mark for the firm of “НИКОЛАЙ ЛИНДЕНЪ, СП.БУРГ” (“NIKOLAI LINDEN, ST. PETERSBURG”), the twelve o’clock arm with an integral suspension loop marked with a silver zolotnik mark of “84” and a silversmith mark of “АБ”, measuring 44.87 mm (w) x 51.00 mm (h), weighing 26.6 grams, in extremely fine condition.
