San Marino, Republic. A Civil and Military Order of San Mario, Commander, c.1925
(Ordine Equestre Civile e Militaire di San Marino). Instituted in 1859. In silver gilt, a white enamel cross with ball finals in each knee, a turret in each quadrant, the obverse medallion features a handpainted center with a blue ring inscribed SAN MARINO PROTETTORE, the reverse medallion features a superimposed coat of arms of San Marino on a white enamel field, surrounded by a blue enamel ring inscribed MERITO CIVILE E MILITARE, the cross is surmounted by a large crown, measures 58.9mm (w) x 87.0mm (h), weighs 38.3 grams, worn on a full length neck ribbon, small chip in the inscription ring on the reverse, otherwise in extremely fine condition.
