Serbia, Kingdom. A Medal for Zeal, Gold Grade, Type II with a Single Crown Between the Eagles' Heads
Serbia; Bronze gilt, unmarked, 34.3 mm, original triangular ribbon with hook and eye, scattered gilt wear, near extremely fine.
Footnote: The Medal for Zeal, Gold Grade was awarded to officers of combat units for exemplary service. The first type of this medal was introduced in 1913 during The Balkan Wars, with crowns above both eagles. It continued to be awarded during and after the First World War. The design was subsequently changed in favour of a larger medal with one crown between the eagles, as per this example.
