(Orden Karađorđeve zvezde). (Орден Карађорђеве звезде). Civil Division. Instituted January 1st 1904. A large award consisting of a white enameled cross pattée with clusters of gilt rays in each quadrant, obverse centre presents a Serbian cross with a fire-steel in each corner, blue enamel background, with white enamel surround holding the Motto "For Faith and Freedom, 1804", reverse centre presents the Serbian white eagle in silver gilt on red enamel background, blue enamel surround with "Peter I, 1904", suspended from detailed royal crown with enameled jewels, measuring 48 mm (w) x 79 mm (h - inclusive of crown suspension with horizontally perceived ball adorned by cross), unmarked however exhibiting the manufacturing characteristics of Arthus Bertrand, with elongated suspension loop, original neck ribbon with ties, enamel loss to reverse, otherwise very fine.

Dr. Goodwin had a successful career as an educator and prominent physician in New York as well as actively serving in both World Wars with the United States Medical Corps. He acted as both President and Vice-President of the Orders and Medals Society of America (OMSA) and is responsible for organizing their first convention in 1960. He maintained further membership with the American Society of Military Collectors, the International Orders Research Society, and the American Numismatic Society.
