In silver gilt, a white enamelled cross with clusters of smooth rays in each quadrant, the central medallion features the Serbian Coat of Arms on a blue enamel field, surrounded by a white ring inscribed за вба8 и слобод8 1804 (For Faith and Liberty 1804), silver swords pierce the medallion, the reverse medallion feature a white enamelled double headed bird on a red enamel field, surrounded by a blue ring inscribed петар 1 1904 (Petar 1 1904), the badge is surmounted by a large crown with enamel details, measures 39.2mm (w) x 61.80mm (h – inclusive of cross adorned crown suspension), weighs 28.3 grams (including ribbon), worn on a red triangular ribbon, minor enamel wear to crown, minor gilt wear, in extremely fine condition.
Footnote: The Order of the Star of Karageorge was introduced in commemoration of the May Coup of 1903, when the Karageorgevich Dynasty returned to the Serbian throne after 45 years of Obrenovich rule. It was founded to reward nationals and foreigners in recognition of services rendered to the King and country, both in peacetime and war.
