Serbia, Kingdom. An Early Order of the White Eagle, Grand Cross Badge by G.A. Scheid, c. 1900
(Orden Belog Orla). Instituted in 1883. Type I (1882-1903). In silver, a lovely white enamelled double headed eagle, the center medallion featuring a white enamelled cross, the reverse medallion presents the crowned cypher of Milan I “MI” on a red enamelled field, the eagle is secured to a large surmounting crown by two blue enamelled pendilia inscribed 22 Фебр уара 1882, measures 35.30mm (w) x 74.85mm (h), weighs 38.5 grams, marked on ring with A denoting Vienna manufacture, maker mark GAS for G.A Scheid and silver fineness mark denoting Austro-Hungarian manufacture between 1872-1922 in Vienna, enamels intact, dark patina, accompanied by a full length of original sash with large rosette, missing ribbon for badge attachment, a rare decoration in extremely fine condition.
