Footnote: The Spanish volunteer medal was awarded by the Third Reich to the men of the Blue Division who served at the Russian front alongside the Germans. It was known as the 250th Infantry Division, composed of 47,000 men sent by Francisco Franco to aid the Third Reich and to pay back Adolf Hitler for his help with the Condor Legion during the Spanish Civil War.
