Spain, Facist State. A Falange Youth Knife with Belt & Buckle
A grouping of a third reich period Spanish Falange youth knife with belt and buckle; the knife measures 257 mm with the scabbard on, and features a 140 mm long brushed (magnetic) blade, with a dull edge and a chipped tip. The blade is etched “Viva Espana!” and is dated “1940” on the reverse ricasso. The blade exhibits moderate oxidation from age. The thick blackened-brown leather washer at the crossguard junction sits firmly in place. The crossguard consists of a rounded finger guard, with signature black bakelite grip plates on either side of the grip. The grip is held in place via two rivets with a Spanish Falange embedded into the obverse of the grip - the reverse is marked “Juvenil” in raised lettering in the bakelite. The scabbard scabbard is constructed of black painted steel (magnetic), with the metal springs on the interior of the scabbard missing, but with the scabbard hanger well preserved, and attached to the scabbard via two rivets, and featuring a belt-loop, and snap closure button to hold the knife in place. The belt is constructed of leather, with a black obverse and a raw caramel coloured underside, with one end of the belt featuring a belt loop, and the other a traditional Spanish Falange belt buckle; in overall near very fine condition.
