Spain, Kingdom. A Medal for Insurance Merit, I Class Grand Cross Star, c.1955
(Medalla al Mérito en el Seguro). Instituted in 1947. Multi-piece construction, insignia in silver with red, white, blue and green enamels, centrepiece illustrating a castle with flames, the centrepiece ring inscribed "JVSTITAI ET VERITAS OBVIAVERVNT SIBI" (Justice and Truth Join Together), backed by a four-pointed star, framed within a wreath of laurel leaves, with the Royal crown at the open end of the wreath and the Spanish coat-of-arms at its base, all of which is mounted to an eight-pointed multi-rayed star base, number engraved "29" on the reverse, measuring 76 mm (w) x 77 mm (h), vertical pinback flanked by dual stays, very light contact on the reverse, extremely fine.
