A miniature circular medal in silver, with obverse depicting a bust of an early Spanish soldier beside the Latin inscription PALAFOX LAUDEMUS VIROS GLORIOSUS, the reverse featuring an engraved Spanish soldier walking beside a lion beneath the Latin inscription CIVES. CAES. AUG. 1908, measuring 13.44 mm (w) x 15.28 mm (h - inclusive integral ball), with minor wear on the rim and toned silver, extremely fine.
Footnote: The Centenary Medal for Zaragoza Siege 1808-1908 was established in commemoration of the first centenary of sieges to the city of Zaragoza by the Napoleonic Army at the beginning of the Peninsular War (1808-1814.) It was awarded to the heirs of the combatants, and to those who attended the commemorations of these battles.
