Spain, Spanish State. A Medal for the Campaign of 1936-1939
Constructed of gilded and patinated bronze, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon in a German-style mount with a horizontal pinback, the obverse consisting of a gilded circular laurel and oak leaf wreath, with a central raised depiction of a lion grappling with a dragon, with the latter bearing a hammer and sickle, topped by a radiant sun and a date of “17 JULIO 1936”, the reverse bearing a central gilt Spanish national eagle clutching a coat of arms above a Falange insignia, circumscribed by an abbreviated inscription of “GENESSMO FRANCO, VICTOR, UNA GRANDE LIBRE IMPERIAL ML.HSP.GLOR.", unmarked, measuring 35.75 mm in diameter, in overall extremely fine condition.
