A Spanish Civil Order of Alfonso X the Wise; Grand Cross with Case
Four-piece construction, silver gilt with red, white and blue enamelled Alfonso X insignia in the centre, centrepiece backer by blue enamels, surrounded by a copper and white enamelled centrepiece ring, on a copper with red enamelled cross base, unmarked, 78.5 mm x 79 mm, vertical pinback flanked by dual prongs, intact enamels, scattered gilt wear, light contact, near extremely fine. In its hardshelled case of issue, wooden-framed, gilt Spanish coat-of-arms mounted to the lid, maker marked "Cejaloo MADRID" on the inside lid, slotted medal bed, wooden frame at the reverse of the base has detached but remains attached to the lid, the lid having separated from the base, spotting on the lid, soiled, case poor.
