Three-piece construction, insignia in bronze gilt with red, white, green and cornflower blue enamels, mounted to a four-armed cross base, the cross faceted and finished with ball finals at the points, with five faceted emanating rays between each arm of the cross, unmarked, Commander breast star as evidenced by not having a crown surmounting the insignia, measuring 63.8 mm (w) x 63 mm (h), vertical pinback flanked by dual stays, spotting evident on the reverse, very light contact, near extremely fine.
Footnote: The Royal and Military Order of St Hermenegildo was instituted on November 28, 1814 and awarded to all ranks of the armed forces and civil guard for faithful service, in four grades: Grand Cross, Star, Commander and Knight.
