Spain, Fascist State. An Agricultural Order of Merit, Grand Cross Badge, c.1945
(Orden al Mérito Agrícola). Instituted on December 1, 1905 by King Alfonso XIII. Type I. A Grand Cross, in silver, presenting an eight armed star of green enamel rays, the obverse medallion presenting a woman plowing a field, surrounded by a white enamel ring inscribed MERITO AGRICOLA, again surrounded by a decorating ring of agricultural symbols with a Spanish crown at 12 o’clock and a coat of arms at 6 o’clock, the reverse presents one large rivet at 6 o’clock, measures 60.2mm (w) x 65.9mm (h), weighs 43.4 grams, suspended from a replacement ring, enamels intact, worn on a full length, lightly tattered green silk sash, a grand cross in extremely fine condition.
