Spain, Fascist State. An Agricultural Order of Merit, Grand Cross Star, c.1945
(Orden al Mérito Agrícola). Instituted on December 1, 1905 by King Alfonso XIII. Type I. A Grand Cross Breast Star, in silver, an eight-arm star of smooth green enamelled rays, the obverse medallion features a silver disc of a woman plowing a field, encircled by a white enamel ring inscribed MERITO AGRICOLA again surrounded by a decorating ring of agricultural symbols with a Spanish crown at 12 o’clock and a coat of arms at 6 o’clock, the reverse presents a decorative vertical pin flanked by dual stays, measures 88.6mm (w) x 89.2mm (h), weighs 103.2 grams, enamels intact, a scarce breast star in extremely fine condition.
