Spain, Fascist State. An Order of Aeronautical Merit, Grand Cross Breast Star
(Orden al Mérito Aeronáutico). Instituted November 30, 1945 by Francisco Franco. In silver gilt, an eight-point star with clusters of faceted rays, the obverse features a white enamelled cross with the Spanish emblem on the front and aeronautical wings on the arms, each quadrant of the cross are alternating lions and castles, the reverse features a single vertical pin flanked by dual stays, marked SJ denoting Stefano Johnson manufacture, measures 69.4mm (w) x 69.9mm (h), weighs 58.8 grams, enamel chip on the 9 o’clock arm, center medallion and wings slightly loose, light gilt wear to tips of rays
