Two-piece construction, insignia in bronze gilt with red, white and blue enamels, mounted to a cross-shaped base in silvered bronze with white enamels, each of the points on the cross with ball finials, unmarked, measuring 54 mm (w) x 61.7 mm (h), original ribbon, on a traditional Spanish-style horizontal hanger with pinback, intact enamels, very light contact, near extremely fine.

It is awarded for services to law and justice, in the following grades: Cross of Merit, Cross of Honour, Cross of Distinction Class 1, Cross of Distinction Class 2, Knight and Medals of Judicial Merit.
