What's a max bid?

(Real y Militar Orden de San Fernando). Instituted in 1811. Multi-piece construction, in 18K Gold with red, white, blue and green enamels, weighing 15 grams, unmarked, obverse centrepiece with the hand-painted image of St. Ferdinand, the centrepiece ring inscribed "AL MERITO MILITAR" (Military Merit), reverse with the original traditional Spanish centrepiece replaced with a centrepiece from the obverse of the Luxembourg Order of the Oak Crown that bears the crowned monogram "W" (William of Luxembourg), measuring 38.5 mm (w) x 54.3 mm (h), fine chipping and crazing evident in the blue enamels on the obverse centrepiece ring, otherwise the enamels are intact, replacement incorrect ribbon, near extremely fine.

 

Footnote: The Royal and Military Order of St. Ferdinand was instituted on August 31, 1811 and awarded to members of the armed forces for heroic acts and distinguished services. It may be awarded individually or collectively. Originally in five classes, today it is awarded in three grades: Grand Cross, Cross of Honour and Military Medal, also Sovereign's Collar and Grand Master's Collar.
