Hardshelled design on both the lid and base, the exterior with a blackish-blue simulated leather covering on all sides, the lid bearing an ornate border on the perimeter in gold-coloured ink, inside lid lined in white satin, padded and maker marked "CEJALVO / JOYERIA CONDECORACIONES PLATERIA / CRUZ, 7 - MADRID", a white felt-wrapped cardboard insert placed within the white base, housing a raised platform in ultramarine blue felt with recessed medal beds for the Badge and Breast Star, dual-hinged, single clasp closure, measuring 120 mm (w) x 248 mm (h) x 63 mm, the exterior with one small dent on the edge of the front panel on the base and very light edge wear, the interior particularly clean and without interruptions in the fabrics, near extremely fine.
Footnote: The Royal and Military Order of St Hermenegildo was instituted on November 28, 1814 and awarded to all ranks of the armed forces and civil guard for faithful service, in four grades: Grand Cross, Star, Commander and Knight.
