Hardshelled design on both the lid and base, with distinctive rounded corners, wooden-framed, the exterior with a maroon smooth gloss-like paper covering on all sides, the lid bearing the crowned Spanish coat-of-arms in the centre, the version used from 1875-1931 (Bourbonic Restoration) using the Pillars of Hercules and the Order of the Golden Fleece in gold-coloured ink, inside lid lined in white cotton, padded and incorporating the faded Cejalvo of Madrid maker mark, a white fabric-wrapped cardboard insert placed within the base, with a white cotton padded medal bed which is slotted to house the pinback of the award, exhibiting the impressions of the two stays of the badge on either side of the slot, dual-hinged, push release closure, measuring 107 mm (w) x 107 mm (h) x 36 mm (d), wear, scuffing, spotting and bubbling evident in the paper covering on the exterior and on the lip of both the lid and base on the interior, one of the hinges is exposed from under the paper covering and is missing one of its two pins forcing it to be weakened, lightly soiled on the white cotton lining on both the inside lid and on the medal bed, near fine.
