Multi-piece construction, in silver gilt, a red enamelled cross with ball finials, with five smooth rays in each quadrant, the obverse centrepiece insignia in silver with blue, green and white enamels, reverse centrepiece in silver with blue and white enamels and bearing the monogram of Ferdinand in silver with a surmounting royal crown, the base surmounted by a wreath in silver with green enamels, measuring 56mm (w) x 76.8mm (h – inclusive of wreath suspension), weighs 38.9 grams (including ribbon segment), worn on a section of replacement ribbon, light crazing on enamels, loss of green enamel to top of wreath suspension on obverse, center medallion slightly loose, remains in very fine condition.
Contained in its original case of issue, a dark red leatherette exterior with the Spanish coat of arms on the exterior lid, the interior features a red silk lid marked M. Cejalvo JOYERIA DRUZ,11. MADRID, with a partial black velvet recessed medalbed and slot for ribbon, the case measures 90mm (w) x 145mm (l) x 35mm (d), light scuffing to exterior, stain on the interior lid, hinge and catch functional, in extremely fine condition.
