Spain, Kingdom. An Army Brigadier General's Peaked Cap by Rutz Loreno of Caracas, Juan Carlos Era (1975-2014)

This fine quality peaked cap is fabricated from a pickle green wool on the exterior, featuring the classic high peak, the top edge trimmed in fine gold-coloured bullion wire piping. The sidewall is trimmed in two rows of fine gold-coloured bullion wire piping around the circumference of the cap, along the top edge where it butts the protruding overhang of the cap. The front of the cap has a Spanish Army eagle insignia on the peak, the insignia in gold-coloured bullion wire, in various textures, the eagle's eye, tongue and chest cross in red embroidery, surmounted by the Royal crown in rolled gold-coloured wire, the void of the crown in red embroidery, with touches red and green embroidery in the base of the crown. Just below it on the sidewall is the Brigadier General's insignia, consisting of a crossed sword and baton and fronted by a four-pointed star in gold-coloured bullion in various textures. The upper on the stiff visor features repeating patterns of leafing with connecting bands in gold-coloured bullion wire, the edge trimmed in three contrasting rows in gold-coloured bullion, in various textures. There is a strap in fine gold-colored bullion wire with dual adjustable rectangular sliders that runs across the front between the brass buttons on either side, each of the buttons bearing the crossed swords and baton insignia framed by a wreath of oak leaves and surmounted by the Royal crown. The underside of the visor is in pickle green wool, the 33 mm wide dark chocolate brown sweatband with a synthetic upper, complemented with an additional chocolate brown vinyl padded band placed at the front to allow for additional protection of the wearer's forehead. The sidewalls and dome are lined in red rayon and incorporates a clear moisture shield, with an embroidered label inscribed "CENTRO TECNICO DE INTENDENCIA / ENSAYOS Y CONFECCIONES" sewn in place to the dome under the shield. It is also stamped in black ink "DE RUTZ MORENO CARACAS" (by Rutz Loreno of Caracas) in the dome between the moisture shield and the front of the cap. Overall, the cap measures 250 mm in width x 290 mm in depth x 110 mm in height. It has vertical tears in the sweatband where it backs the side button positions, along with one small tear in the sweatband at the right rear, with scattered signs of mothing on the top of the cap in the pickle green wool. However, it is free of soiling, exhibiting excellent craftsmanship in its manufacture. Near extremely fine.
