Spain, Fascist State. An Air Force Parachutist's Qualification Badge, for “Plegador”, c.1944
Consisting of an enameled red central medallion in silver, superimposed by a gilt parachute symbol with initial “P” ( for “Plegador”) in black enamel, flanked by two silver wings, surmounted by a period Spanish crown, reverse with two catches, marked by Spanish silver hallmark denoting .915 silver purity, along with maker’s mark of Matilde Espuñes Bagués, Madrid, and maker’s mark of Luis Rokiski, which was a primary (but not exclusive) supplier of metal wings for the Spanish Nationalist aviators, measuring 97.58 mm (w) x 36.50 mm (h), with strong loss of red enamel and general contact, otherwise a very special badge in fine condition.
