Spain, Spanish State. A Falange Youth Knife
A well-preserved Falange Youth knife, measuring 26 cm in total length when inserted into the scabbard. It features a 14 cm-long, nickel-plated, magnetic steel blade with a sharpened tip and lower edge. The blade is plain with the exception of an inscription of “SOLINGEN” on the obverse ricasso, indicating German manufacture. The blade sits securely within a nickel-plated magnetic metal hilt with a hooked quillon and pommel. Two pieces of pebbled black bakelite compose the handle grip, and are secured in place with dual magnetic metal rivets. Inset into the obverse of the handle is an enameled Falange insignia measuring 14 mm (w) x 25 mm (h). It is accompanied by its original scabbard, constructed of a black-painted magnetic metal shaft. Riveted to the reverse of the shaft is a black leather strap stitched into a loop for belt suspension, retaining a functional magnetic metal snap button to firmly hold the knife in place during storage. Issues consistent with age and wear are evident, including running marks and tarnishing to the blade and some loss of scabbard paint with sporadic denting. This scarce knife remains in an overall near extremely fine condition.
