Spain, Spanish State. A Rare Falange Movement Patriotic Sign, by Gallardo y Nuñez
A rare Spanish Civil War-era Falange movement patriotic sign, constructed of magnetic metal,the obverse bearing a detailed design consisting of a Spanish bicolour-style flag base, with the central bar bearing the flags of Spanish Morocco, Portugal, the Falange overlaid by an illustration of José Antonio Primo de Rivera, Fascist Italy, and Germany, topped by a bar bearing illustrations of José Calvo Sotelo, Miguel Primo de Rivera flanked by a date of “13 - 9 - 23”, and José Sanjurjo, above a bar bearing illustration of José Enrique Varella, Gonzalo Quiep de Llano, Francisco Franco circumscribed by a date of “18 - 7- 36” and above a banner bearing an inscription of “ESPAÑA”, Miguel Cabanellas Ferrer, and Emilio Mola, perforated at the top with two holes for rivet attachment, the left obverse marked “GALLARDO Y NUÑEZ, SEVILLA”, measuring 342 mm (w) x 166 mm (h), minor scratching and loss of finish is evident to the obverse (particularly over the Italian flag”) and there is minor bending of the structure, in overall better than very fine condition.
