Four-piece construction, in silver with azure blue enamels, measuring 31.8 mm (w) x 49.8 mm (h), gilt back plate, intact enamels, lightly soiled original ribbon with button hole attachment, contact marks evident on the gilt plate, near extremely fine.
Footnote: The Oscar II Silver Jubilee Medal for Guests was instituted in 1897, to celebrate King Oscar II twenty-five years on the throne. It was issued to guests at the celebrations in Sweden. There are two alternate versions: one with royal blue enamels and matching royal blue ribbon issued to members of the Royal Household; the other with maroon enamels and matching maroon ribbon that was awarded to members of the royal family and to the Norwegian Royal Household attending the Silver Jubilee celebrations in Norway.
