In Gold, a white Maltese cross with ball finials, and crowns in each quadrant, the obverse medallion features a sheaf of wheat surrounded by a red ring inscribed GUSTAF D III INSTIKTARE MDCCLXXII, the reverse mirrors the obverse, the cross is surmounted by a royal crown, measures 38.2mm (w) x 58.5mm (h – inclusive of cross adorned surmounting crown, weighs 18.4 grams including ribbon, enamels intact, in extremely fine condition.
Contained in its original case of issue a faux reptile skin pattern on the exterior with a decorative border, the interior lid marked C.F. CARLMAN, with a stationary red velvet recessed medal bed with small area for ribbon storage, measures 62mm (w) x 100mm (l) x 25mm (d), hinge and catch functional, very minor wear, in extremely fine condition.
