Sweden, Kingdom. A Royal Navy Belt, c.1900
The upper of the belt in a thick black-finished leather with a pebbled texture, the underside in black wool, the right side with an oval brass buckle for length adjustment. The left side and rear have elongated brass buckles, each with a black leather strap, the rear strap measuring 730 mm in length and finished with a brass spring-loaded clip, the left strap measuring 310 in length and finished with a brass spring-loaded clip, the left side elongated buckle also housing a nine-link chain which is finished with a hook, with a protective black leather tab with a black wool underside placed behind the left side elongated buckle. The brass belt buckle at the front consists of two pieces: the buckle on the right side incorporating a circular insignia bearing an anchor surrounded by the National three crowns (Tre Kronor), the insignia stamped "18" on the reverse and affixed to a tab, which is connected to an ornate bracket bearing oak leaves and acorns, while the buckle on the left side is slotted in the middle and stamped "18" on the obverse, framed by a full wreath of laurel leaves and attached to an ornate bracket bearing oak leaves and acorns, and when the right side insignia is inserted into the slotted area on the left buckle, it ensures a secure fit at the waist, with a protective black leather tab with a black wool underside placed behind the buckle. The belt measures 1,180 mm in length, the last 130 mm of which is folded over to the reverse, and measuring 35 mm in width. It exhibits light wear on the black leather pebbled finish on the belt and on both straps, as well as wear spots prevalent on the black wool underside in multiple locations on the belt and on the protective tabs. Fine.
