Steel helmet, magnetic, with a rolled edge, original greenish-gray exterior, designed with a flared brim along with a slight comb on the top, large shield plate affixed to the front bearing the National three crowns (Tre Kronor), National three crowns shield decals in blue and yellow applied on both sides, in accordance with the implementation authorized in 1942, to emphasize Swedish neutrality. The inside with three individual leather panels, the uppers with a smooth finish, the panel on the left side a replacement, each panel with two fingers, a hole at the tip of both fingers, with a brown leather drawstring fed through the holes, the ends of the drawstring dangling between the two rear panels. The upper on the right panel is inscribed in handwritten black ink with a partially faded service number. Each panel with a cloth-wrapped pad stitched in place to its raw underside, with the underside of one of the fingers on the front panel with the number "518" inscribed in handwritten black ink, the panels held firmly in place to the steel ring by their original pins. Original two-piece leather chinstrap is intact, the longer piece with nine holes for length adjustment, the shorter piece with a silvered buckle held in place via two rivets, the two ends of the chinstrap wrapped around metal buckles at the sides and secured via two rivets, the buckles held firmly in place by their original pins. The helmet measures 250 mm in width x 302 mm in depth x 160 mm in height, with scuffing and paint chipping evident on the exterior, the decal on the left side exhibiting a large paint chip on the lower crown, scattered areas of surface rust present on the front shield and rolled edge, the interior with paint chipping on the flared edge, the leather pieces lightly soiled and remaining intact.
