Sweden, Kingdom. An Order of the North Star in Gold, I Class Grand Cross Badge (KmstkNO), by C.F. Carlman, c.1915  
                (Nordstjärneorden). Instituted 1748 by King Frederick I. Type II (1871-1919). In Gold consisting of a white enamelled Maltese Cross with ball finials, Gold crowns in each quadrant with enameled jewels, obverse centre presenting a white enameled star on a blue background, Motto "Nescit occasum" (It knows no decline) in Gold lettering, reverse presents matching centre, with an ornate Royal crown suspension with enamel jewels, measuring 55.72 mm (w) x 79.88 mm (h-inclusive of crown, horizontally pierced ball suspension adorned by cross), maker marked CFC on side of 3 o'clock arm as well as marked 18k Gold, sewn to section of period black silk sash, with minor enamel loss to reverse centre, otherwise extremely fine.
