Multi-piece construction, in silvered bronze with red enamels, ball finials on the tips of the star points, maker marked "B.B.&Co" (unidentified maker in Berlin) on the reverse, measuring 57.3 mm (w) x 54.5 mm (h), horizontal pinback, tiny nips evident in the red enamels, most of the manufacturer's name having been scratched out but traces of it remains on the reverse, light contact overall, better than very fine.
Footnote: The Gallipoli Star was a military decoration awarded by the Ottoman Empire. It is also known as the Ottoman War Medal. It was instituted by Sultan Mehmed V on March 1, 1915 for gallantry in battle. This decoration was awarded for the duration of the First World War to Ottoman and other Central Powers troops, primarily in Ottoman areas of engagement.
