In nickel-plated brass with red enamels, German-made, ball finials on the tips of the star points, measuring 56.8 mm (w) x 54 mm (h), vertical pinback, chipping evident on the tip of star point at 7 o'clock and crazing in the star point at 12 o'clock, very fine.
Footnote: The Gallipolli Star was a military decoration awarded by the Ottoman Empire. It is also known as the Ottoman War Medal. It was instituted by Sultan Mehmed V on March 1, 1915 for gallantry in battle. This decoration was awarded for the duration of the First World War to Ottoman and other Central Powers troops, primarily in Ottoman areas of engagement.
