A Soviet 1938 Hasan Badge; Manchukuo Incident
A Soviet 1938 Hasan Badge; Manchukuo Incident - Bronze gilt and red enamels, 29.5 mm x 39.2 mm, screwback, enamel chipping and repair evident, light contact and gilt wear, very fine. Footnote: The Battle of Lake Khasan (July 29, 1938 to August 11, 1938) and also known as the Changkufeng Incident in China and Japan, was an attempted incursion by Manchukuo (Japanese) into the territory claimed by the Soviet Union. The incursion was founded in the belief of the Japanese side that the Soviet Union misinterpreted the demarcation of the boundary based on the Treaty of Peking between Imperial Russia and the Qing Dynasty of China (and subsequent supplementary agreements on demarcation), and that the demarcation markers had been tampered with. More than 6,500 Soviet soldiers and officers were awarded various orders, decorations, medal and badges.
