Three-piece construction, the insignia in silver with red and white enamels and incorporating a hammer and sickle in Gold in the centrepiece, mounted to a five-pointed star base in Gold, each star point with nine emanating rays, weighing 38 grams, mint marked "МОНЕТНЫЙ ДВОР" (Monetny Dvor) and number engraved "216568" on the reverse, measuring 44 mm (w) x 45.8 mm (h), screwback, the insignia exhibiting multiple contact marks on the red enamels on the star point at 9 o'clock, along with chipping and crazing in the white enamels on the centrepiece ring at 6 o'clock, the remaining enamels intact, very fine.
Footnote: The Order of the Patriotic War was instituted on May 20, 1942 and awarded to those who displayed bravery and resourcefulness in the war against Germany, in two grades.
