What's a max bid?

Pro Ecclesia et Pontifice Medal; 1st Class 1903-1914

Pro Ecclesia et Pontifice (for Church and Pontiff) Medal, 1st Class, Cased, St. Pius X Period (1903-1914) - Silver gilt, 42.3 mm, original ribbon, gilt wear and tarnish marks overall, very fine. In its hardshelled case of issue, coat-of-arms of St. Pius X on the lid, marked with the Papal coat-of-arms and maker marked "A TANTANI ROMA" on the inside white satin lid, soiled recessed medal bed, scuffed and worn exterior, case fair. Footnote: The Pro Ecclesia et Pontifice medal was instituted by Pope Leo XIII on July 17, 1888, in memory of his golden jubilee in holy orders and was awarded to the men and women who had made a significant contribution to the success of the jubilee and the associated Vatican Exposition. It was made a permanent distinction only in October 1898 and rewards both clergy and lay persons for outstanding service to the Pontiff or the Catholic Church. The medal is awarded in three grades: gold, silver or bronze.
