What's a max bid?

(Ordine di San Gregorio Magno). Instituted in 1831. Grand Cross Badge: in silver gilt with red and blue enamels, each of the eight points of the cross exhibiting a ball finial, surmounted by its trophy of arms suspension in silver gilt, marked "925" (silver) on the edge of the arm at 6 o'clock and on the reverse of the trophy of arms, measuring 58 mm (w) x 94.3 mm (h) inclusive of its trophy of arms suspension, scattered gilt wear on the edges of the arms of the cross, on its full-length sash that incorporates a decorative moiré pattern and features a large bow-tie; and Breast Star: multi-piece construction, cross insignia in silver gilt with red and blue enamels, mounted to a silver eight-pointed star base, each star point with five faceted rays, with a single faceted ray between each star point, marked "925" silver on the tip of the star point at 6 o'clock on the reverse and on the pin, measuring 90.3 mm (w) x 90 mm (h), vertical pinback. Intact enamels, extremely fine.

 

Footnote: The Equestrian Order of St. Gregory the Great was instituted on September 1, 1831 by Pope Gregory XVI and awarded for loyalty and service to the Holy See, in four grades: Grand Cross, Commander with Star, Commander and Knight, in Civil and Military Divisions.
