Yugoslavia, Socialist Federal Republic. A Medal for the Voyage to India and Burma 1954-1955
(Medalja za putovanje u Indiju i Burmu). Instituted in 1955. In silvered bronze, obverse illustrating the left-facing bust of Marshal Josef Tito, inscribed in Croatian "PRETSEDNIK N R JUGOSLAVIJE" (President, National Republic of Yugoslavia) above and "JOSIP BROZ TITO" (Josip Broz Tito = Yugoslav communist revolutionary and statesman) below, reverse illustrating a map showing the sea routes passing the Arabian peninsula and featuring the land and sea routes to India and Burma to the east, with various place names marked, a large palm branch below the map, inscribed "USPOMENA NA NA PUT" (Memories of the Trip) above and "U INDIJU I BURMU" (To India and Burma) below, measuring 34.7 mm (w) x 39.5 mm (h) inclusive of its integral ring, exhibiting scattered spotting and silvering wear, edge nicks, on its original triangular ribbon with hook and eye, better than very fine. In its hardshelled case of issue, dark brown dimpled exterior on five sides, inscribed "USPOMENA na put u Indiju i Burmu" in gold-coloured ink on the lid, inside lid in white satin-like cloth, base with a recessed medal bed in light blue nylon, measuring 90.5 mm (w) x 131.5 mm (h) x 23 mm (d), the exterior with contact marks, surface wear and peeling evident on the covering, the medal bed exhibiting soiling, case fine.
