Three-piece construction, in silver gilt with red enamels, hallmarked and maker marked "IKOM" on the reverse of the eight-pointed star base, measuring 64.8 mm (w) x 65 mm (h), vertical pinback, intact enamels, dark patina, very light contact, near extremely fine. In its hardshelled case of issue, marked "Orden za vojne zasluge sa srebrnim mačevima" (Order of Military Merit with Silver Swords) on the lid, tabbed and recessed medal bed, extensive wear evident on the exterior, weakened hinge, case fair.
Footnote: The order was established on January 1, 1952 and awarded to commanding officers, who in times of peace, achieved success in the executions of their tasks in the unit they command or of military institutions, along with being awarded to the civilians who achieve results of significance for national defence. It may also be awarded to foreign military persons. It was awarded 94,684 times.
