Five First War Imperial German Airmen Postcards
The first postcard illustrates a standing Lieutenant Dossenbach in a studio setting, inscribed "Unser erfolgreicher Kampf-Flieger / Leutnant Dossenbach" below, "416 / Postkartenvertrieb W. Sanke BERLIN N.37. / Nachdruck wird gerichtlich verfolgt." and "Prof. Krauth phot." at the lower right, 85 mm x 135 mm. The second postcard illustrates a seated uniformed airman in a studio setting, with prop and wings insignia visible on his shoulder board, 88 mm x 137 mm. The third postcard illustrates four airmen standing in front of a log cabin, two with "F 18" shoulder patches, another in the doorway holding the door open, a large wooden box behind the two airmen at the left, 88 mm x 139 mm. The fourth postcard illustrates a uniformed airman flanked by women on either side, their arms interlocked, the women wearing hand warmers, inscribed "Ostern 1917" (Easter 1917) on the reverse, 88 mm x 140 mm. The fifth postcard illustrates a uniformed flying officer holding a dog in a studio setting, inscribed "September 1917" on the reverse, 87 mm x 139 mm. Two are black and white, three are sepia-toned, on card stock, each with postcard backers, three with a handwritten messages, two are unaddressed, ranging from better than fine to extremely fine.
